Some thoughts…
I was driving through DC on my way home tonight, and I saw a bunch of police officers standing near their cars with lights ablaze.
As I got closer, I realized that a few of them were struggling with a man who had blood on his chest and arms.
Even closer still and I saw another man that the police were no longer interested in. He was laying on the ground with a large red pool on his chest. His face was covered by a white cloth.
I’ve seen dead people before… but it really strikes me how everyone was just driving by… barely slowing down. Like no one had time to bother.
I don’t know what this site is going to be about in it’s entirety… but I’d like it to normal to have intelligent discussions about life here… so please discuss.

Rebirth
For[effectively]ever, the purpose of Distributed Intellect was to create a place where you could upload you work and have it critiqued by your peers. A low-pressure rotating exhibit of sorts where people could collaborate on works and possibly have intelligent discussions on a variety of topics.
There are a few thousand reasons why previous incarnations of the site failed, and quite honestly, other sites did a far better job of doing what the site was heading towards. I’m not going to spend any time talking about all of that. The bottom line is that it was far more trouble than it was worth and the site got scrapped.
Ultimately, I determined that the site hadn’t even been heading in the direction that I originally intended anyway, and so I’ve decided to give it another go.
This time, I’d like to try to get the site moving towards what it was meant to be. A place where we can share what we’re working on, what we’re thinking about, what we’re thinking about working on, etc… And get polite, educated feedback from our peers.
You’ll need to re-register, but it shouldn’t take long. Posts are moderated, but for the moment, I’m thinking that everyone’s posts are going to go on the front page.  Everyone can comment, but not anonymously… I learned from that mistake last time.
So what are you working on? What are you thinking about? Today, I’m thinking about things I can do to try to inspire creativity in my children. So much emphasis is put into stifling creativity in the schools today, and I worry about my kids learning how to… just create. To think creatively, to not be afraid to try new things… Anyway, we’re going to make something today. Not sure what yet, but something will be created.
(ps - Yes, I still have all of the art and written submissions from the previous incarnation of the site. I will be working on porting that over over the next week or so. Also, yes, I stole this theme. I’m going to make a new header for it so we can call it our own… or you can make a new header for it, and we can start rotating contributed headers again :))
